ABC's Weir Goes Easy on Religion and Palin-Bashing 'Family Guy'

ABC reporter Bill Weir didn't exactly grill Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane when he interviewed him for Nightline's ongoing "Seriously Funny" segment on Monday. The journalist failed to bring up some of the most egregious examples of MacFarlane's cartoon vulgarity, including a March 8 episode that featured bestiality jokes, a gay-hating Jesus Christ and an 11-way gay orgy. Instead, Weir only vaguely alluded to such instances and asserted: "But, like those other cartoons, his shows raise the most ire with religious and parental watchdog groups. If there is a taboo line, chances are MacFarlane has leaped over it." He did read off a list of topics the show has skewered and then wondered: "Where is the line for you? Is there a line or is that the point?" Once again, however, Weir had no specifics to follow-up. Did he ask about the October 19, 2008 episode in which the program's baby character, Stewie Griffin dressed up as a Nazi and wore a McCain/Palin button? No. MacFarlane, a Barack Obama supporter and liberal Democrat, wasn't forced to talk about that particular low blow.

  • Lately Cameron has started 'reciting his ABCs'. Basically repeating the sounds whenever he feels like it. At first, it would be while he was holding a book, magazine, anything that had pictures on it. He'd point at the picture and say in his "Cameron-ese" whatever he felt that the picture was. Here's a video of him doing it while sitting at his chair watching Duran Duran in concert on the tv. You can faintly hear the song "Wild Boys" in the background.

  • It could be very easy for me to whine about our actual Thanksgiving day since Mark was night shift and slept all day. He was then off to work again after dinner at friends'. However, I looked at the glass as half full. 1. He HAS a job to provide for us. 2. We have friends that care enough to offer us awesome food and fellowship. As some of you know I can be Negative Nellie sometimes. So, I'm really proud of myself because I didn't even have to try too hard:) The Lord is definitely making some good changes in me lately. Here is a small list of things I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving Holiday. Unfortunately I can't take credit for this idea. I got it from a friend's blog.A=Asher. My precious boy that I believe is the cutest thing on earth. He's a perfect display of mine and Mark's love.B=Besties as Erin calls them. I just love my dear friends that no matter the time or distance that separates us know my heart. They know where I come from firsthand and why I'm the person I am.C=Cody. Through the years has been more like a little brother than a nephew.D=Disney Cruise. It was our awesome vacation this year!E=Everlasting life. Through Jesus I've been offered the most incredible gift!F=FamilyG=God. People that don't have Him simply exist. They don't live. I'm glad I don't have to understand that!H=Home. Although I complain about the structure itself a lot it's a place of faith, hard work, and love.I=In-laws. I don't even like that term because they're simply family. They love me whole hearted and treat me as their own.J=Jobs. So many people are without this year. I often wish I could be home with Asher more, but he knows he is loved and gets lots of attention regardless. I thank God for giving me skilled knowledge to provide for my family.K=Kisses. Whether in the form of "kissy lips", "horsie kisses", or Eskimo kisses I love them all! It's a nightly ritual.L=Life. God blesses me every morning with good health.M=Mark. The love of my life, the man of my dreams.N=Naps. Mmm. Need I say more:)O=Offerings. Our time, talent, and money. When we finally let go of them we receive so many blessings in turn just for being faithful.P=Pictures. Can you imagine life without them?Q=Quiet time. The time I take to simply feel God's presence and hear Him. I don't do it nearly enough!R=Railroads. Anything related is pure joy to Asher.S=Sisi. She helped make me who I am today.T=Tyner United Methodist Church. I love my church family.U=University. My good ole alma mater the "W". I have nothing but wonderful memories of that place. I'm proud to be part of the long blue line!V=Vacation. Since Asher was born Mark and I decided vacations whether big or small were vitally important. It's a chance to get away from the stressors of life and work to focus on nothing but our family.W=Wilma. The best step mother a girl could have.X=X-Rays. No kidding I'm not making this up because X is a hard letter. With X-Rays particularly videofluroscopy I can better help so many of my patients.Y=Years. I have spent 3 very happy ones with Mark. We have lots more to go!Z=Zoos. They're an instant memory maker. Going to the zoo is one of the activities Asher and I do on my days off. Such fun!I could go on and on!

  • Yesterday I went to In Stitches and picked up my framed Alphabetissimo. I love it; they did such a wonderful framing job. (Alphabetissimo, by Papillon Creations, stitched in 2 colors of NPI on 32 count Picture This Plus (don't remember which blue), 2 over 2.)It's hard to tell from the above photo that there's some blue in the frame; here's a close-up of the frame. While I was at In Stitches, I picked up all the remaining stuff I needed to do the Prairie-Schooler ABC stitch along. I bought 6 of the charts, the fabric and DMC. If you want to see what the finished project will look like, click here,. Vonna set up a separate blog for the SAL, which also tells you how to join if you're interested. Thanks, Vonna! If you need any of the supplies, you can call In Stitches in Alexandria, Virginia, and they can take care of you; when I was there yesterday, they had all but one of the charts, and they say that the charts take just a few days to get to them generally (assuming they are in stock with their source). The charts are $7.50. The final project, if you're doing all the letters on one piece of fabric will be 646 x 307 stitches. No need to do the whole thing to join; you can just stitch one letter if you prefer--this is a no-sweat/no obligation SAL.Without further ado, here's the beginning of "A is for Anchor." I'm doing the entire project on one piece of 45 count Graziano linen in ivory, one over two using the recommended DMC.I didn't forget "Squirrel!" Here he is looking a little frizzled; I had to frog out some stitches and there are some threads hanging off him. Also stitched on 45 count over two using DMC.Here's Peaches, saying that she thinks my blog post is boring because it doesn't feature enough rabbits. Don't worry, little girl; we'll be back on Thursday with the First Annual Rabbits' Thanksgiving. Let's see what kind of mischief we can get up to. See you then!Happy week ahead!

  • Evan loves to sing the alphabet song. He's growing up so fast!!! I tried to get him to say, "See ya later dude" at the end--his new phrase he started saying out of nowhere this week. He's only said it in front of me a few times, but will never say it upon request. He never does any of his cute things upon request, so you can imagine how proud I was to at least get the alphabet on video. Normally, he won't preform when I want him to.

  • Isn't this the cutest little quilt? Sorry it's not a very good picture but the fabric is really nice and bright in color. She used the red minkie for the backing and has a red meander/stipple all over. What a fun way for the little ones to learn their ABC's In a previous post I mentioned getting some minkie, well here it is. I can't wait to get to use it. Love the brown one and the tie die one, oh darn I love them all. Another customer baby quilt. This one is cute too, my camera did not take good pictures this day. On this one too she used the minkie for the backing. That minkie is getting very popular for backing now. It's especially nice for baby quilts. Here is on of my quilts. I made it awhile back and finally got a chance to get it on the machine. It's from the book called "Happy Hour, love that book... That looks like a piece of black fabric right there in the middle but it's not, it's dark green. I am blaming it on the camera again because it isn't all that dark in real life. I had a new panto pattern so I tried it on here and loved it. Ebb and Flow and I used an olive green thread. It turned out nice and I'm happy with it. Not sure yet what I will do with it or who will get it. Here is the backing. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.:)
